How does workplace training prepare students for jobs?
Workplace training placements are more than just a course requirement—they're the bridge between classroom learning and real-world success. For business and hospitality students, these placements offer hands-on experience that brings theory to life.
At Hopkins International College, our students gain valuable exposure by working alongside industry professionals in Perth's lively business and hospitality sectors. This experience helps them understand workplace dynamics, develop practical skills, and build confidence.
For example, a hospitality student completing a placement at a busy hotel learns not only service techniques but also teamwork, problem-solving, and customer interaction. Business students might engage with local companies, gaining insights into operations, marketing, and client relations.
These placements mean students graduate ready to hit the ground running, with skills employers value and the confidence to succeed from day one.
If you want an education that truly prepares you for your career, workplace training placements are the key. Are you ready to reach your potential?

The holiday season can be a challenging time, especially for those far from home.
Mental Health Support – MOST Platform
MOST is a free mental health support platform for international students aged 15–25.
It’s available even when other services may be closed. Through MOST, you can:
• Chat with mental health professionals
• Access the Distress Tolerance Toolkit for simple, in-the-moment strategies
• Use the Festive Care Pack for holiday wellbeing tips.
Download MOST from the Apple App Store or Google Play, or visit MOST online.
Additional resources are available on Study Australia, including guidance on mental wellbeing: How to access mental wellbeing support | Study Australia.
Important Scam Warning
We’ve seen an increase in scams targeting international students, including:
• Criminals asking students to sell their bank accounts or ID
• Using students as money mules
• Buying and selling student identity documents
• Even involving students in illegal activities like animal smuggling
Getting involved in these practices can lead to loss of savings, severe stress, criminal charges, and losing your place in Australian education.
Please stay alert and never share your personal or banking details. For more information:
• AFP’s urgent warning for departing international students
• Money Muling – AFP Cybercrime Series
We’re here for you.
If you need support or have concerns, your well-being and safety are our priority. Please reach out to our student services team on 08-9325 1390. We will be available for any emergency or well-being issues only during this holiday period on the above number, as most staff are on leave.
Hopkins International College full team will be back on 05 Jan 2026.
