This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in
line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other
Australian national peak clinical bodies.
You will attend one day face to face training and practical demonstration on our campus with a
qualified first aid trainer.
Course Delivery and Assessment
Each candidate to demonstrate skills in an environment that provides realistic in-depth, scenarios and simulations to assess candidates’ skills and knowledge. Due to the nature of this type of training, it is acceptable for the performance evidence to be collected in a simulated environment. Compression and ventilation skills must be demonstrated on resuscitation manikins following ARC guidelines for the purpose of assessment of CPR procedures.
Entry Requirement
Minimum Age Requirement:
Students must be at least 14 years of age; participants under 18 years of age need a signed parental consent form.
Minimum English Language Requirement:
- have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills as tested through a language, literacy and numeracy assessment. Students will need to achieve ACSF level 3 for reading, writing, numeracy and oral communication to enter the course.
Minimum Academic Requirement:
Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs

Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning
All applicants can apply for credit transfer of units that they have already been issued with from another RTO. Additionally, they may wish to apply for recognition of prior learning gained form their past formal and informal learning pathway from other training, work or life experience.
