This nationally recognised certification provides comprehensive training in medication administration, fully aligned with Australian healthcare standards. Course Delivery and Assessment
We offer two distinct pathways to suit your schedule and experience level: 100% Face-to-Face: Traditional classroom learning with no online requirements. Blended Learning: A convenient mix of online theory and in-person practical assessments. We also offer express assessment: an accelerated option for those seeking to renew their existing medication competency.
Entry Requirements
Age and USI Requirement:
Students must be at least 18 years of age. Have a valid USI (Unique Student Identifier) for certification issuance.
Physical Requirement
Be physically capable of assisting clients with medication administration. Ability to read medication labels and documentation clearly. Manual dexterity to handle medication equipment and packaging. Capability to maintain hygiene standards during medication procedures. Ability to calculate medication dosages and check expiry dates.
Minimum English Language Requirement:
Participants must possess basic language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills necessary to: complete medication documentation accurately, read and interpret care plans and medication charts, calculate correct medication dosages, understand medication terminology, abbreviations, and instructions, communicate effectively with clients to obtain consent, and follow written and verbal medication procedures.
Pre-requisite Requirement:
Completion of pre-course reading and assessment, requiring basic computer skills and internet access, is required for blended & express courses.

The curriculum covers the essential protocols required for safe and ethical medication assistance, including:
Clinical Protocols: Mastering the “10 Rights” of medication administration and understanding common medications and side effects.
Practical Assistance: Supporting self-administration, opening packaging, and managing dose administration aids like Webster packs.
Safety & Hygiene: Implementing strict infection control, safe handling, and secure storage procedures.
Documentation: Maintaining accurate records and adhering to legal and ethical reporting requirements.
Contingency Management: Identifying and responding effectively to adverse reactions or unexpected incidents.
