Specialised training for those who care for children. Our HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting course delivers emergency response training tailored for schools, early learning centres, OSHC, and childcare environments. This childcare first aid course meets all regulatory requirements under the Education and Care Services National Law and ACECQA – focusing specifically on emergencies impacting children and infants, not generic scenarios.
Course Delivery and Assessment
We offer two distinct pathways to suit your schedule and experience level: 100% Face-to-Face: Traditional classroom learning with no online requirements. Blended Learning: A convenient mix of online theory and in-person practical assessments. We also offer express assessment: an accelerated option for those seeking to renew their existing medication competency.
Entry Requirements
Age and USI Requirement:
Students must be at least 18 years of age. Have a valid USI (Unique Student Identifier) for certification issuance.
Physical Requirement
Be physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR on adult, child and infant manikins for at least 2 minutes kneeling on the floor. Demonstrate the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), including the use of child pads. Perform first aid techniques, including bandaging and wound management.
Minimum English Language Requirement:
Participants must possess sufficient language, literacy, numeracy and Digital skills to:
- Complete incident reports as required in education settings
- Communicate effectively with children, parents and emergency services
Understand medication labels and allergy action plans - Follow written emergency procedures and policies
- Count compressions and breaths during CPR
- Understand Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines
- Understand spoken instructions & count to 30
- Follow written and verbal first aid procedures
Pre-requisite Requirement:
Our blended & express HLTAID012 childcare first aid courses require the completion of pre-course reading and a quiz, requiring basic computer skills and internet access.
